HVAC DUCT CLEANING
Indoor air pollution is a serious problem in a household. Your ductwork may be the problem if your family suffers from allergies and other unrelated symptoms. It can be hard to determine if air duct cleaning is necessary because of the differences in conditions between homes.
Other contaminants include cleaning, cooking, smoking, and moving around the house. Cost of the job will vary depending on how large the HVAC system is, its accessibility, the climate, and the level of contamination. Is it worth hiring a professional to clean your HVAC vents?
What causes excessive dust and mould?
Your HVAC system could become infected with pollen, hair, and dust if it isn't maintained properly. Mould can grow if there is moisture. The spores could then be released into your home.
It is important to thoroughly clean every component of your HVAC system. A missing component could potentially recontaminate the entire system. If you see mould growth or dust on any of the heating and cooling components, such as ducts or sheet metal ducts, it is important to clean them. However, if there aren't large amounts of debris or dust, cleaning may not be necessary.
Is it worth having your ductwork professionally cleaned?
You will most likely need professionals unless you have the necessary knowledge and tools such as rotary brushes or a powerful vacuum. It's possible for vital connections to be damaged during the cleaning of nonmetal ducts. This is why it's a smart idea to hire HVAC Victoria BC professional to clean your whole HVAC system.
Professional cleaning is a must if you suspect that mould or other pests may be present. Professional cleaning will ensure that your air ducts, registers and grills, heat exchangers and cooling coils, as well as the fan motor, housing and air handling unit housing are thoroughly cleaned.
Untrained people could cause damage to your system and cost you expensive repairs.

Can I Clean the HVAC Ducting by myself?
The short answer to this question is no. You will likely damage the equipment or cut yourself on the screws inside the ductwork if you don't have the right equipment.
Although we don't recommend that you clean your HVAC system by yourself, you can follow these steps if you are familiar with the system and know how to do it.
Take off the screws from the covers of the air ducts and return grille plates.
Protect the supply outlets from dust so it doesn't blow around.
The thermostat should be set to "fan on". This will move any dust that has become loose. Run the heat setting instead if you have an older thermostat.
To loosen any dust, tap lightly on the ductwork.
Clean the supply registers. Move the vacuum near the register to lift it and clean the ducts. Use the microfibre cloth to reach inside the ducts and clean them. After you have cleaned each supply register thoroughly, you can take out the paper towel that you had placed.
Clean the return registers. The same steps are taken to clean the supply registers.
Turn off the furnace and fan. Turn off the thermostat.
The blower compartment and the return air boot should be cleaned out as this is where the majority of dust will accumulate. The vacuum can be used to clean the blower compartment, and the return air boot. The furnace fan should be cleaned.
Replace the furnace filter.
Contact a professional immediately if you find mould or other evidence of infestation during cleaning your ducts.
How to Prevent Dust buildup in HVAC Vents & Ducts
High-efficiency (HEPA), air filters are recommended.
Regularly change filters.
Make sure to keep drain pans and cooling coils clean.
Regular vacuuming is a must. Use a HEPA (high-efficiency) vacuum cleaner with filter bags.
In-duct humidification is a good option.
You must ensure that ducts have proper insulation and sealing. This will prevent moisture from entering crawl spaces and attics.
Water leaks can be fixed and standing water removed. Your ducts should not be moistened.
